Man asked:

When remodeling a home,to confirm design eligibility do you need to have the same criteria as a architect or engineer or is there some where we can send the plans.

yes, you have to send it to an experience architect or to your state’s office.

Reason is that in the United States, there are very Strict building codes. If you Violated the building codes, they will tell you to tear it down. Even if its nearly finished.

What type of remodeling are you doing?? If you’re not altering power, water or gas supplies & aren’t knocking down walls, etc. (i.e. redecorating) then you don’t need design plans. If you’re doing any of the above, then you need someone who knows what they’re doing involved in order to get the required drawings & permit approval through your city office.

Typically, yes, you need to have not only the ‘design’ approved, but also the work itself.

Cosmetic alterations arent usually a problem, but if you are altering the structure, electical, gas or plumbing lines, then often you are required to pull permits, have inspections, etc.

Check with your local building codes enforcement (municipal or county, depending on where you live).

Have Fun
